Stage 33 – the day I got into Haikus
Start: 5:55, 19 ºC, sunny, cloudy
End: 15:15
Distance: 28/824.0 Km
Stayed at Albergue O Logoso
OST: Lupin III, sigla di chiusura (Castellina Pasi)
I didn’t sleep well the evening before: at 21:00, some idiot decided to work the fields next to the albergue. The teenager managing the facilities couldn’t really help, so… I started the day grumpier and more tired than usual, which is something.
On top of that… the hospitalero had locked us inside the Albergue. the front walls were impenetrable, and the massive wooden gate wouldn’t budge.

That’s how, at 6am in the “morning”, I started my day by escaping the albergue like a thief, climbing over a steep fence. I barely managed, and I was barely balancing myself with half a toe… I dread to imagine what would have happened if I had slipped.

The rest of the day was uneventful. One more night before the ocean. I was hyped beyond measure.

Did I mention I was in the best place in the world to enjoy Pulpo Gallego?
One quick bite or two, and off I went again. I had rearranged these stages from 4 to 3.

Logoso was lovely. Logoso was… its albergue, really. I did a group stretching session the morning after, where the laundry used to be.
I had fewer inhibitions at this point, and I had been singing loudly classical music and other loud stuff up and down the hills. I was asked to sing in public at the albergue… I deflected.
Maybe it’s for the best.
To celebrate, I ended up working on a haiku. And here it is:
A new day is born
The winding road climbs higher
I am whole again
Tomorrow: the final final stage, for real this time.
Next stage: Stage 34: Logoso – Fisterra
