Stage 26: La Laguna de Castilla – Triacastela

Stage 26 – the day I got pulpo gallego in Galicia. For real.

Start: 5:50, 18 ºC, sunny

End: 11:35

Distance: 24.8/628.1 Km

Stayed at Hotel Meson Vilasante

OST: Happiness is Home, Elisa

24 Km in less than 6 hours? Yeah, it’s true: at this point, after almost a month, I was physically fit, healthy and… ready to walk some more.

To become faster meant I had plenty more time to get bored after arriving, especially when I managed to arrive before noon.

Oh well.

At this point, I was just walking. Just like that.

Sue me.

After a promising start, the path to Triacastela passes through a very traditional… golf club? Well, at least it was a small area.

Galicia is still boring, and even boredom can manifest beauty.

The number of Koreans on The Way had dropped by 90%. It’s possible they were just a few hours behind; it’s also possible most of them went back home.
There were two special Korean friends who never missed during my earliest hours: we didnt’ speak the same language, but we understood each other.

Catching up with them by 7am was one of my core routines for the Camino.
And today… I got a biscuit as reward!

In Triacastela I went for another private room. I simply needed it to recharge my batteries – and it was not a matter of physical pain.

Aaaah the “Final de Etapa”, essential accessory for ANY village any remotely close to the Camino.

Tomorrow, the final part of the pilgrimage: the arrival in the dreaded Sarria.

Next stage: Stage 27: Triacastela – Sarria
